Nuclear power: Now more than ever, or never?

Article Abstract:

NASA's Prometheus space nuclear agenda was intended to provide nuclear electric power, surface hardware for Moon and Mars human outposts and nuclear thermal propulsion. NASA is promoting the use of nuclear power in space to further enhance the manned exploration the Solar System, but it will be as challenging as the technology that it hopes to harness.

The National Research Council has placed stringent measures on the design and building of the Advanced Solid Rocket Motor. The advanced motors will replace the current models and will provide safety, quality and reliability.

Used space program for sale?

Article Abstract:

The Soviet Union's Mir space station is the result of decades of investment, and R&D. However, the Soviets may need to consider selling the expensive-to-operate station to raise badly needed hard currency.
