Article Abstract:

A Space Exploration Initiative program focusing on nuclear propulsion is being negotiated by federal agencies. The program will require between $2 to $5 billion to create. Nuclear propulsion will be researched in preparation for Mars missions.

The Spacelab Life Sciences-1 mission produced a report on human adaptation to space flight. Significant results include blood-cell response, blood volume decrease, cardiovascular adaptation and calcium and bone-mineral loss.
