More than one battle

Article Abstract:

The change in the U.S. National space policy with its focus on human exploration beyond Earth orbit has gained attention in the national press. The legislative battles that the space programs have to face including annual fights for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) budget and the passage of H.R. 3752, the Commercial Space Launch Amendments Act, are discussed.

Article Abstract:

U.S. space policy, already a subject of increasing immediacy, has received greater scrutiny and prompted growing speculation in the wake of the Columbia disaster. Issues related to space policy are evaluated, including next-generation propulsion and vehicle programs.

Article Abstract:
