The U.S. space agency, as part of its Astronomical Search for Origins Program, has agreed for nine feasibility studies of future mission concepts. Among the other proposals are Space Infrared Interferometric Telescope, Origins Billion Star Survey, Galaxy Evolution and Origins Probe, and Hubble Origins Probe.

Space exploration can benefit from the application of the Horizon Mission Methodology that allows mission planners to evaluate future programs according to new paradigms. The method integrates present and future capabilities and creates the technology needed to reach future goals.

Vladimir Komarov died in a Soyuz flight in 1967. He was part of a mission to dock two spacecraft in Earth orbit and land on the moon. He proved his capability by manually orbiting back to earth but did not survive because of malfunctioning equipment.
