Japan: Rising Sun in a cloudy sky

Article Abstract:

Japan is contributing a major research module to the International Space Station (ISS), called Kibo, which is scheduled to be launched aboard a space shuttle in 2007. Although Japan has announced new plans to increase its independence in the area of piloted spacecraft, it would experience difficulties, both with spacecraft in orbit and their main vehicle for getting them there, the H-IIA rocket.

Article Abstract:

Aviation started out as a government-backed industry with many air crafts being used to carry weapons and aid in military uses. The shift into the commercial sector came slowly and presented is analysis on whether space crafts will see the same transition in time to come and what its impact will be on the commercial transportation industries.
