The way in which astronomers measured the age of the Earth changed dramatically upon the arrival of the Hubble Space Telescope. This instrument allowed for the age estimates to narrow considerably after data was collected from it. Debate over Earth's age has been raging for some time and is analyzed.

Asteroid hunters bolster search efforts

It is estimated that approximately 1,000 to 2,000 asteroids approach close to Earth. The measures being taken by NASA and instruments being used to detect any danger to the planet are noted.
