HALO student achievement program

Article Abstract:

The Huntsville Alabama L5 Society chapter of NSS began the HALO Program which has an educational side, a technical side and an achievement side. The various components of the program, including the elementary, middle and high school programs and other elements, are described.

High altitude lift-off

Article Abstract:

Huntsville Alabama L5 Society (HAL5) set highest altitude record for amateur rockets when its Space Launch 1 (SL1) reached an estimated 30-36 nautical miles last Sept 22, 1997. HAL5, an NSS chapter, is planning SL2 for early November and SL3 for Jan 1998.

Making space work

Article Abstract:

High Altitude Research Corp in Huntsville, AL, was created in 1996 to provide a low cost space access. The launch techniques it offers are similar to those offered by the National Space Society's chapter HAL5 with its High Altitude Lift-Off Program.
