X-rated rockets take off

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin are building a reusable spacecraft for NASA called the X-33. The spacecraft will carry loads at a cost of $1,000 per pound. Two other models, the X-34 built by Orbital Sciences and the X-37 built by Boeing's Phantom Works, are expected to undergo test flights in 2002.

Cassini cruises by Earth and heads for sticky situation at Saturn

Article Abstract:

The Cassini spacecraft was launched by NASA to study the planet Saturn. It has flown past Venus twice, is expected to reach Jupiter in December 2000, and will orbit Saturn in July 2004. A probe will be released from Cassini to parachute to the surface of Titan, one of Saturn's moons.

A messenger with deep impact

Article Abstract:

NASA's next Discovery mission will launch in 2004 and include a probe to study the planet Mercury and a probe to study comets. The 2004 Deep Impact mission will involve 2 flights past Venus, 2 flights past Mercury in 2008, and an orbital flight round Mercury in 2009.
