1998: A key year in the commercialization of space

Article Abstract:

The commercialization of outer space is considered to have started in 1998 due to the numerous testing of cost-effective launch vehicles. Some of the lauch vehicles to be tested in 1998 are NASA's reusable space launchers, Boeing's Sea Launch project and Lockheed Martin's Single Stage Rocket Technology.

More efforts need to be undertaken in the field of launch vehicle certification in space tourism in order to allow the process to be less time-consuming and cumbersome. The cost of potential liability for accidents is perhaps the biggest barrier to regular tourist flights.
