The perceived superiority in dance training, dance performance, and dance productions attracted many dancers to Paris in the 1820s, including the young August Bournonville. A discussion on the distinctive elements of French ballet when Bournonville made his first visits to Paris focuses on the noble genre, including the methods dancers used to train and how they danced.

Visions and challenges in Copenhagen

Article Abstract:

The evolution of theatrical dancing in Denmark and the visions and challenges of the Royal Danish Ballet (RDB) are discussed. The RDB School is preparing for the Copenhagen's Bournonville Festival, which is staled for June 3-11, 2005, and the city's new dockside opera house would open in 2005, at which time the Royal Danes would have three local stages to dance.

Taking class: memoirs of a classroom ballerina
