Article Abstract:
Cognitive science offers promise in the field of dance research. Its value lies in its multidisciplinary nature, its use of a diversity of strategies to overcome the limitations of cognitive anthropology, its analysis of the larger issues in anthropology and its dealing with issues of relevance to human movement studies. Before using this technique with a project studying the dance of a non-Western culture, it was used to explore how a group of Americans felt about dance. This project is described.
