Martin Munkacsi was one of the most important 20th century photographers in the US. He was born in 1896 and came to the US in 1934 after a distinguished photojournalism career in Europe. He was hired by Harper's Bazaar magazine and became the most influential fashion photographer, moving his models outdoors and using action shots. He pioneered a style of spontaneity and impromptu attitude, shown in a collection which includes many prints never shown before.

Barbara Morgan was an accomplished photographer who died in 1992 at 92 years of age. She achieved success in the 1920s and 1930s for her pictures of modern dance. She was also on the art faculty at UCLA. Her published works include a monograph in Aperture in 1964 and two books. Their titles are 'Summer's Children: A Photographic Cycle of Life at Camp' and 'Martha Graham: Sixteen Dances in Photographs.'

Cole Weston was the youngest son of the famous photographer Edward Weston. The first serious monograph of Cole's work, Cole Weston: Fifty Years contains the photographs of still life and abstractions pulsing with the expression of color as form.
