Loie Fuller's influence on F.T. Marinetti's Futurist dance

Article Abstract:

Dancer Loie Fuller prefigured theatrical techniques described in F.T. Marinetti's 1909 "Founding and Manifesto of Futurism." Fuller revolutionized performance style by creating special effects with light and costume. Futurist F.T. Marinetti admired Fuller and believed old artistic forms needed to be discarded. New forms should reflect excitement for technology. Fuller danced for the Parisian Folies-Bergere in the late 19th century.
