Alice Helpern's 'The Technique of Martha Graham' published by Morgan and Morgan offers readers a capsule history of the evolution of the legendary dancer's techniques. A strong point of Helpern's work is her observation that Graham's technique and choreography could not be separated during her early years. The book addresses Graham's movement vocabulary and the way she shaped it into her technique which is now taught around the world.

These letters are in the Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge Collection of the Music Division of the Library of Congress.
