The controversial sculpture of an adolescent ballet dancer, by 19th-century French artist Edgar Degas, travelled through the US in 1998 as part of a show entitled "Degas and the Little Dancer." Degas is famous for his paintings capturing ballet dancers in transient, sometimes awkward moments. The exhibition provides background for the creation of the sculpture.
