A woman's shares her tales of pain suffered by her pregnancies and the subsequent diagnosis of the problem. The young woman had two surgeries due to an ectopic first pregnancy which caused abdominal pain and constant vomiting. The second pregnancy became more challenging as she faced primary sclerosing cholangitis,or liver disease, thus endangering the unborn baby. The Ohio-based couple recount the story and the source where they drew strength from.

Article Abstract:
The mother of a baby born with epilepsy describes her traumatic situation. At first, the doctors do not believe that the baby is ill. Finally, they diagnose her with extreme epilepsy and she must undergo an operation removing half of her brain. The operation is successful, and, though developmentally delayed, the baby becomes a little girl who can walk, talk and count.

A woman whose premature daughter needed 140 blood transfusions as a newborn, and physicians expected the infant to die quickly. The baby had a tenuous hold on life during her first year, but lived. The parents funded a research group dedicated to studying the disease.
