I found a lump in right breast in November 2008, I went for tons of tests, and visits. Finally when the first tests came back from biospy the surgeon scared the pants off me. He said it was bad and it would be better to take right breast off instead of doing two operations. It might spread to left breast and take out ovaries. Geez I just went in with a little cancer. I refused his suggestion. I said I want lumpectomy. I had my operation Feb 10 2009. The surgeon said he was surprized at how small cancer was and pleased. He said it looked really good. So all the pathology was not in. I saw a Chemo doctor and a radiation doctor. The chemo doctor gave me these awful numbers saying I have to have chemo, but no numbers about success with radiation. The radiation doctor sounded more hopeful and I put myself in a clinical trial on different methods of radiations and outcomes for women.
I got all my pathology in April and it was grade 1 cancer, biggest tumor of small size. Her 2 neg. and all the hormone results were good. The cancer was not in lymphs nor alot in breast.
So why were these doctors scaring me into getting all cut up, poisoned and burned.
They are still trying to get me on tomaxifin I am peri menopausal still having my periods. This drug is better for women with menopause and at high risk.
I will not be forced into taking risky drugs. I had many pap smears that were abnormal and no it is not alright that this drug will help breast cancer but give me uterine cancer or all.
I believed in my voice inside and do not think it is right that doctors take a one approach to all women. I shudder to think of what I could have gone thru. I will be finished radiation tomorrow and am very happy. Women have to listen to their little voice and follow it. My results were great and I will do everything to keep cancer at bay with diet, flax seed meal and oil, green tea extract, ginger/tumeric ,algae, miso, diet , exercise and a greater knowledge of all things affecting my body
