Tara Lipinski began her athletic career on roller-skate, but soon moved to ice-skates when she discovered that they allowed her to jump higher. She won gold at the 1998 Winter Olympics, but decided to turn professional shortly thereafter to ease personal, family and financial pressures.

Kelsey Turner-Schaefer was born with cloaca, a rare defect that causes children to be born with no openings in their lower bodies. Kelsey has undergone 18 operations to create a rectal tract, anus, urethra and vaginal tract. Despite her ordeal, Kelsey is a strong and active child.

Amy Roloff is a dwarf who has had to deal with the adversity of being short her whole life, which kept her from participating in many social activities while growing up. Roloff eventually decided she wanted a family and decided to stop being shy around men because of her height.
