Kathleen Caronna was seriously injured during the 1997 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade when a runaway, six-story-high balloon knocked over a lamppost, striking her in the head. Caronna spent nearly a month in a coma, and she has difficulty with speech, memory, and movement.
