Zen & the art of skin maintenance

Article Abstract:

Clean lines and an understated atmosphere have been attracting Los Angeles, CA's glitterati to skinmaster Ole Henriksen's day spa. The former makeup artist of celebrities specified to architect James Meraz his desire for a Zenlike space that would serve as a haven for the spirit. The reception area features a maple and birch desk, multicolored Indian slate floors and custom chairs covered in royal blue chenille. It has 12 treatment rooms, a meditation room where clients are served tea and sandwiches, and a wet room with enameled stainless steel table topped with African wood.

Cubic feat

Article Abstract:

The Liquid Design Group, founded by artists Jeff Linnell and Colin Ochel, has a round-the-clock work day since its clients such as Sony, Pepsi and Visa only give a few days of project turnaround time. Hence, the company turned to interior decorators John Hartmann, Ana Henton and Troy Ostrander who make up the bicoastal design collaborative FREECELL to renovate their office to make it multi-functional. To solve this pace problem, FREECELL designers have made freestanding rooms that can function as private offices or bedrooms for the employees of Liquid Design.
