Morimoto Architects and Engstrom Design Group collaborated to create the interior for Yoshi's Restaurant and Jazz House in Jack London Square in Oakland, CA. The problem of noise from nearby passenger and freight trains was solved by providing sound-insulated walls and ceiling, and a double window of glass bricks which let light through but not sound. Engstrom used purple-toned patterns which indicate earth and moving water and aubergine colored walls with dashes of gold Japanese paper.
