The author discusses a survey of this publication's readership and its chief findings. These include that many have joined the Society for News Design to get 'The Book,' its annual publication, that many feel the journal should promote integrating electronic news and print media, and that many members feel the society is too exclusionary.

Thousands of entries, but only a few can win an SND award

Article Abstract:

The Society for News Design received some 14,000 entries for its 2000 awards contest. The organization and decision-making process in such a contest is demanding, but the judges did a remarkable job.
