Article Abstract:

The Patricof and Co headquarters features an aluminum frame curtain wall which separates the main offices from the circulation areas. Shelton, Mindel and Assoc designed the wallto establish distinct identities for each area as well as serve as a unifying element for the office. The wall's aluminum frames contain wood, white lacquer or pebbled glass-finished insert panels, with clear glass panels at the top portion to maximize the use of natural light and give a sense of space. The office also features a high corridor ceiling which drops to an 8 ft 3 in heighttwo ft into the offices

Heartening developments

Article Abstract:

The Stafford Place in Ballston, VA is under renovation to accomodate the offices of the National Science Foundation (NSF). The project is designed by architectural firm Weihe Partnership to provide 434, 200 sq. ft. of usable space for the NSF which will be the only office tenant among retail tenants. Likewise, the Ehrenkrantz and Eckstut Architects is working on the Los Angeles Gateway Center, a 75-acre mixed project which will house government and commercial buildings along with public transit facilities.

Civics, science and sports: a new California civic center; a Boston university research lab; a soccer stadium in Venice, Italy

Article Abstract:

LPA and Gunnar Birkerts and Associates have been selected to design the San Marcos Towne Centre, a commercial development in California and a soccer stadium in Venice, Italy respectively. The San Marcos Towne Centre will cost $26 million and cover 10 acres. The soccer stadium will blend into the environment of Venice through the inclusion of water, arcades and bridges.
