The European Design Congress

Article Abstract:

The European Design Congress was held in Essen, Germany, between Nov 12, 1993 and Nov 14, 1993. The goal of the congress was to consider the difficulties confronting the economies of Europe and investigate ways of overcoming them. Most representitives were from Germany and there were few industrialists. The individual countries perceive themselves to have the same problems. The UK is not in a superior position at present, but may be in future, because they are aware of the problems and are taking relevant action.

Manufacturers were forced to spread their presentation across more than one site which displeased them as it lessened their impact. In particular, Alessi's new product range was notable and included cutesy plastic products and a line of wooden products called Twergi.
