Strange brew

Article Abstract:

Architect and artist David Hertz developed Syndecrete, a cement-based, polymer and resin-free material which can be made from natural minerals and recylced materials. In addition, the material does not melt nor does it emit gases, making it more environment-friendly than wood, concrete andsynthetic materials. Syndecrete resembles granite or limestone, but is more stain-resistant than these two materials. The material has as many uses as the recycled materials that go into its production.

Greening up

Article Abstract:

The World Environment Business Center features a permanent exhibit of an environmentally-sound office based on guidelines of the American Institute of Architects. The exhibit focuses on the design professional's concern for the environment reflected by incorporating safe design practices. These practices are presented by juxtaposing environmentally-damaging practices such as the use of synthetic carpets which deplete petroleum resources against natural linoleum flooring.
