Ed Arnold the patriarch of newspaper design describes the last phase of a redesign project. The redesigns are a positive force, propelling newspapers globally in to higher levels of visual excellence, better storytelling, more effective packaging of news and in many cases, a review of a newspaper's journalistic practices.

Redesign: a new 'Day'

Article Abstract:

The main purpose of redesigning the newspaper, The Day, was to introduce new contents, update the paper's design and change the nameplate. The Day, an independent paper of Connecticut, has a sailing ship in its nameplate in memory of the life in New London.

Redesign: Komanda

Article Abstract:

The theory behind redesigning the Ukrainian's leading sports newspaper, Komanda, is explored. One of the innovations was to group all the informative materials into compact blocks with great visual strength and edit it with good care.
