Globe's reporting of trading in stocks, bonds, mutual funds and assorted financial instruments was unsuccessful as the readers had trouble reading the new tables. It is necessary to understand that the aim of the business makeover, in the works for over a year, is to meet insistent demand from readers for more information, to provide consistency in the displaying of the major tables without creating confusion and to assure consistent publication of smaller tables.

Designer Alan Jacobson patterned his redesign of the Greensboro News and Record after USA Today by using color blocks for the flags. However, Jacobson tried to maintain the local integrity and identity of the paper. The conversion of 'Column One' into a horizontal format achieved an effective and attractive design for the newspaper based in Greensboro, NC. The Greensboro News and Record has a circulation of 116,000.

Die Press, the only daily in Vienna, founded in 1848, was redesigned to develop a new structure and editorial concept. The size of the newspaper was reduced despite its traditional serious image, typefaces were limited, Bodoni Bold was used as the regular headline type and a color photo was used on the front page. The redesign of Die Press increased the newspaper's readership.
