The Kennebec Journal and Waterville Sentinel in Maine decided to jointly produce a Sunday newspaper. Their collaboration resulted in the Kennebec Journal Sunday and the Sunday Sentinel, which have the same stories in the inside pages while having different front-page stories. The publication contains sections on people, homemaking, business, sports and travel to fulfill a new focus on news with local interest.

The Union-News reinvents its design

Article Abstract:

The Springfield, MA, Union News undertook a redesign of its publication to emphasize its new focus on local news. The redesign was handled by design consultant Alan Jacobson and art director Michael Nasuti. They decided to increase the typeface and use Bodoni font for headlines, as well as enlarging the space for front-page photos. The new design has met with an enthusiastic response from readers.
