German architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel was the foremost classical designer of Central Europe during the 19th century. Among his creations were the Altes Museum and the Iron Cross medal in Berlin. He paintings and theatrical set designs have also achieved acclaim.

Century Cottage

Century Cottage is an old hall-and-parlor home in northwestern Connecticut originally built in 1743. Its owner is a purist who painstakingly restored even the minutest details to come up with a very authentic Colonial home.
