Research and medical institutions continue to upgrade their facilities with the Wake Forest University in North Carolina heading the list. The construction for a Center for Research and HumanNutrition has started and is expected to be completed by 1995. Likewise, children's vaccines manufacturer Lederle-Praxis Biologicals will construct a new research laboratory in Henrietta, NY. Furthermore, the design firm Swanke Hayden Connell International Ltd has been commissioned to develop an office building in London's financial district.

Eisenman Architects of New York, NY has been commissioned to develop the master plan for a mixed-use development park located outside Frankfurt, Germany. The commercial and residential development will include daycare, schools and parking facilities. Likewise the design firm of Hoard NeedlesTammen & Bergendoff has been contracted for the design of the Bartle Hall Conventionin Kansas City, TX while Flad & Assoc have been contracted for the design of the headquarters of the Modern Woodmen of America in Rock Island, IL.

Article Abstract:
Interior design firmRidgeway Associates designed an elliptical stairway to serve as an interesting link between two floors of the offices of the Morris, Polich & Purdy law firm located in the Arco Towers in downtown Los Angeles, CA. The stairway was twisted to fit a hexagonal floor plate with structural beams. The carpeted steps were hemmed in with tempered glass-panels supported by black guard rails.
