Article Abstract:
Three architectural projects are planned for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Grand Bougainville, Portugal; and Flint, Michigan. The Malaysia project is an office building comprised of two 85-story towers for Petroliam Nasional Berhad. It is being designed by Cesar Pelli and Assoc and the interiors are designed by Studios Architecture. The Michigan project is a new library for the University of Michigan and is designed by Gunnar Birkerts and Assoc. It will cost $15 million and have 110,000 sq ft. The third project is a Portugal resort designed by Sandy and Babcock. It will contain 300 suites, as well as a main building.

Article Abstract:
A group of designers practicing in Boston, MA, volunteered their services to decorate a residence for homeless people with AIDS. A three-story house in Dorchester was given a comfortable atmosphere for residents by the individual touches contributed by each designer. The designers were allowed to use their own designs for assigned rooms, and the result shows personal character in the use of colors, draperies and furnishings.

The Mary's Place Community in Minneapolis, MN, provides temporary shelter for the homeless while they seek employment or government assistance. Cunningham Hamilton Quiter Architects designed separate wings for families and individual tenants that is joined at a common lobby. The facility has rooms for children's recreation, a classroom, a laundry and a health services area. It is equipped with a keycard security system.
