Article Abstract:
Michael and Cecilia Dan contracted Frank D Israel Design Associates to design their residence in Malibu, CA. The designers used spectacular geometry to give the interior a sense of flow. An earthy red color was chosen for the stucco cladding to complement the plantings. Fir beams, white walls and natural tones are seen throughout the interiors, especially in the master bathroom. A mezzanine office tucked under the roof is also creatively incorporated into the master bedroom.

Article Abstract:
An abstraction of the woodsy Craftsman houses in the Bay Area was blended with the rigorous geometry of artist Donald Judd and the dramatic asymmetry of architect Rudolf Schindler in the house created by architect Scott Johnson. The Napa Valley house was designed as a second home for his family. The simple lines belie an interplay of mass, light and materials and the magnificence represented by a pergola.
