Article Abstract:

The Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in Anchorage, AK, features the combination of colorful patterns, regional characteristics and an innovative approach to theater and auditorium design. The architects conceptualized the thaeater as a facility which will enliven the downtown scene without overwhelming it nor upstaging itsfrontier character. They utilized bold themes for the interior and created distinctive styles for each of the center's theaters. Different regional artists' artwork, which decorated public spaces, served to enhance the center'sunique design.

Article Abstract:

Chicago developers Eugene Golub and A. Epstein and Sons International joined to construct an impressive 10-story building of stone and glass in Warsaw, Poland. The Warsaw Corporate Center's design co-exists well with the LIM Center/Marriott Hotel complex. The site is managed by Chemadex, a polish firm with whom Golub has joint ventures. Another venture of Golub/Epstein is a 35 story building for the National Bank of Poland. Golub has set up a permanent management corporation to oversee the operation of the two buildings constructed so far.

Article Abstract:

The design of New 42nd Street Inc's office in New York, NY, reflects the lively and diversified atmosphere of 42nd Street where the office is located. Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Assoc used an angled plan to create interestin an otherwise plain rectangular space and decorated the interior with a variety of colors, forms, and materials. A tight budget did not hinder the architects from experimenting with low-cost materials such as waferboards for office partitions and sisal for flooring to create innovative design elements.
