Article Abstract:
Furniture and interior designers are demanding protection for their designs from rampant plagiarism. Copies of designs are typically sold for lower prices since these do not pass through the regular process of presenting and marketing the design. To counteract this trend of indiscriminate copying, courts have begun to rule on design infringement cases by citing laws on trade dress. Meanwhile, the Foundation for Design Integrity is also actively campaigning against plagiarism.
