Natural history

Article Abstract:

Furniture manufacturers ICF Inc and Prospettive have joined forces to promote the furniture designs of Richard Neutra, the modernist architect famous for his cubist steel and glass structures. Neutra's simple and large-scale collection will greatly benefit thecontract furniture industry because it features the best in American furniture design. The materials for the reproductions of the original designs were modified to comply with current environmental standards. Thus, the reproductions feature non-toxic foam cushions, plated stainless steel frames and aniline-dyed ash.

ISO's implications

Article Abstract:

The European Community (EC) has formulated a set of standards, called the ISO 9000, which include certification, inspection, conformity assessment, and quality system assessment for its 91 member countries to follow, in order to remove marketing hurdles and to bring uniformity to market. Though not compulsory, these standards will influence the decisions of customers planning to do business within the EC. Acquaintance with the ISO regulations would help firms to expand their markets.
