Article Abstract:

A canopy and a facade lend an aura of newness to the Michael Callen-Audre Lorde Community Health Center in New York, NY. Formerly known as the Community Health Project, the center is designed to see to the needs of the city's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community and people with HIV/AIDS. Designed by Thanhauser & Esterson, the 27,000-sq-ft facility has been expanded, with flexible areas created for its various activities. The first floor is for community events and education, health education and the Health Outreach To Teens program, while the top floor is for administrative services.

Special suites, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's 19th floor houses its luxury rooms and suites with 14 beds. The special suites section is like a high-end hotel, with single rooms having all the comforts and amenities of exclusive hotels and offering not only service but also privacy and security. The floor also features wood veneers and custom carpeting. Inside the rooms are comfortable seating areas and a business center equipped with private offices, concierge and translation services, and a phone/fax system with Internet access.
