Soft neutrals: creating a warm envelope for radiation patients

Article Abstract:

The design firm Anshen and Allen executed the layout and interiors of the radiation therapy unit of the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco based on the need to create an open and peaceful ambiance. This was achieved using soft, indirect lighting to heighten the low-ceiling areas. Interiors were made of light oak wood, white, peach and soft blue for the walls which were then set off with warmer-tone lamps. The basement-like effect was neutralized with the artwork and bright halogen accent lights along the walls.
