Article Abstract:

Menokin, an estate named after a nearby creek and an Indian village, was a wedding gift given by Colonel John Tayloe, owner of Mt. Airy, to his daughter, Rebecca. Its basic design resembles Mt. Airy, only it is smaller. Currently, the estate lays in ruins, but plans of restoration are underway.

The square cottage

Article Abstract:

'The Square' cottage in Ardnamurchan, Scotland, is one of Europe's first concrete houses, being built in 1901. After having different owners for almost a century, the house deteriorated. In 1990, it was purchased by architect Nicholas Groves-Raines and was restored to its original condition.

A bayside retreat

Article Abstract:

The Willets House, located along the Manhasset Bay of Long Island, NY, was purchased and restored by the couple Alan and Judy Flynn, with the help of interior designer, Keller Donovan. The trio has made the interiors of the 19th century appear colonial.
