A spadea is a half page wrapped in front of a section used to take some of design pressure off the page or to get an extra half page of content connected to the cover. This idea was used successfully by various newspapers and magazines and it can be an interesting tool to have while trying ways to reach out to readers.

Illustrator Terry Allen's reinterpretation of the 1959 World Series Program for Chicago Tribune worked out so well that editors adopted the look for the rest of the paper's coverage. His style and fantastic ability to incorporate typography into his work was evident in his created version.
