Newspapers that are widely read must be well-designed, if it is design that attracts readers. However, it can sometimes be difficult to separate quality and popularity. Newspapers are increasingly paying more attention to their design but are also losing the trust of their readers and market penetration is falling. Newspapers that continue to sell well have an indefinable quality, but the main attributes shared by outstanding newspapers are originality, high standards, attention to detail and reader value.
