Ross Barney + Jankowski Architects decided to use the landmark Inland Steel Building of Chicago, IL, as the site for its new offices. It selected the 7,000-sq.-ft. space on the tower's 16th floor as its headquarters and used ordinary materials, such as drywall, vinyl tile and cork, to suffuse its teamwork-oriented offices with style without spending too much. Highlights of the design include the custom plywood conference room table, the plywood reception desk and the open studio.
