Harmony House

Article Abstract:

The Harmony House in Greenville, TN, was named after William Harmon, the great-grandfather of Richard Doughty who owns the house today. During the Civil War, Confederate and Union armies camped at the house at different times. Many items in the Harmony House today reflect this proud history.

Pure and simple: the marks of Shaker design

Article Abstract:

The simplified ethics of the Shaker religion are reflected in the communities which they built in the 18th century. Their houses are symmetrical without any architectural flourishes, and are equipped with sturdy and spare furnishings.
