Article Abstract:
Two architectural projects are presented. These are the Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) at the Mirimar Naval Air Station in San Diego, CA, and the Grafton Jobs Corps Center in Grafton, MA. Howard Needles Tammen and Bergendoff designed the San Diego TRACON which is the US' first integrated air traffic control facility. The on-going project is set for a May 1993 completion. Moore-Nolte Assoc designed the Job Corps Center which includes dormitory and medical/dental facilities and administration offices. The program aims to promote a family atmosphere also conducive for learning.

Article Abstract:
HDR Inc. took charge of renovating and expanding the floor space of the Western Heritage Museum in Omaha, NE, whose original design resembles that of a train station done in the Art Deco style. The architectural firm retained the corrugated metal and arched roof of the original design to preserve the historical association. However, modern lighting and mechanical systems were installed to provide it with a more comfortable environment.

Article Abstract:
San Francisco-based Baum Thornley Architects converted an old pier warehouse into a unique product development studio for client, IDEO. The IDEO staff collaborated with the architects in developing an open, clerestoried space that facilitates informal and quick inter-office communication. Budget constraints also challenged the designers to use alternative materials.
