Article Abstract:
Pat Kuleto Restaurants designed the interior of Farallon, a trendy seafood restaurant in San Francisco, CA, with an aim of making it appeal to that part of the customers that was once a fish. Named after a group of islands, Farallon was once a narrow room that was divided into several places by huge columns. Using an underwater decor to complement the claustrophobic interior, the restaurant is now decorated with glass jellyfish, a sea urchin, mosaic fish across tiled floors, and backlit patterned windows.

The Finnish embassy in Washington, D.C. presents a modernist contrast to the staid mansions along Embassy Row. The building was designed by architects Markku Komonen and Mikko Heikkinen in keeping with the modern styles promoted by other Finns such as Alvar Aalto and Elial Saarinen. The facade is formed from a copper and bronze grid that screens off the granite forecourt. The interiors are well lighted by large windows from the roof.

The chair was designed by Charles Eames using shaped plywood and was a winner at the Museum of Modern Art's Organic Design Competition.
