Article Abstract:

The newsstand at the lobby of the First Interstate World Center boasts of an innovative magazine rack. The display rack's design is a modified version of Mobile Shelving System's standard display system but the end product features an interplay of color and form when the display magazines are placed. Chrome rods support seven acrylic shelves which are divided into eight sections. The L-shaped shelves are tilted at 15 degrees and fitted with a four-inch bottom lip to keep the magazines from falling. Cutting edge

Article Abstract:

Designer Fred Pirkey's design of Salon Ichi in New York, NY, reflected an up-to-date concept of the beauty industry and the client's emphasis on the client as the central figure. He reinforced these concepts by designing free-standing bollards wherein stylists can place their styling toolsand get them without having to reach in front of their customers. The bollards serve two stylists and feature interior shelves, curved swing-out doors, equipment rings for blow dryers and electrical outlets. Finishes include walnut-stained red oak for the veneer and plastic laminate for shelves.
