Article Abstract:

The International Assn of Lighting Designers (IALD) advised that the 10th annual IALD competitions is open to designers of different fields. The judges will assess the entries on the basis of aesthetic and technical excellence and how well the lighting technique complements the architectural design. Winners in the 10th annual competition will be awarded during the Lightfair International in San Francisco, CA, which will be held from May 10 to 12, 1993.

A lighting bug

Article Abstract:

Darcy Bonner, a partner at Himmel/Bonner Architects design company, has combined his fascination with the Rhinoceros beetle with his work in lighting design. The result is a lighting system in his office which features folded and ribbed brushed-steel plates, resembling a beetles armour plates, which reflect light back from the ceiling to floor. The arms of the lamp resemble the spindly legs of the insect.

Article Abstract:

Reggiani USA has allied with the Peter Joseph Gallery in New York City to establish the Reggiani Light Gallery located in new York's Fifth Avenue. The gallery was designed to showcase various lighting products and designs.
