Article Abstract:
The American Institute of Architects National Exposition of Interior Contract Furnishings Product DisplayCompetition 1992 winners are presented. The jurors chose Steelcase's showroom display as Best of Show because of its impact, novelty and creativity. Stow Davis was cited for its simple yet informative showroom while Interface's humorous treatment made its product more appealing. The judges also lauded Haskell Desk's architectural treatment of its product, Du Pont Antron's colorful and friendly product presentation, Keilhauer's interesting seating display and Herman Miller's showroom which offered product interaction.

Interior designers need to pursue practice legislation to protect their rights. Laws are needed to allow interior designers to engage in independent practice without being threatened to have their licenses revoked. In Illinois, the job definition of interior decorators restricts them from providing services that impounds on the duty of architects. The reasons interior decorators should pursue practice legislation are discussed.
