The home furnishings and decorations in the 189 year old Chandler Farm within the Winterthur Museum and Gardens are primarily influenced by the American way of life and mode of thinking. The directors of the museum who have occupied the house have ensured that such quality will be preserved and complemented by their own collections.

Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf created cotton fabrics with elaborate designs using wood blocks in 1759. His complex color-fastening process was later replaced by copperplate printing which produced more detailed images.
