Article Abstract:
Antonio F. Torrice and Ro Logrippo conducted research into the interior design of day care centres in the US and the effects of physical space on child development. They found that the proportion of space to a child's physical size influences play in that smaller spaces are more conducive to complex play behaviour. Children also benefit more from having their own artwork hung on the walls, rather than cartoon characters. Only 11 of the 155 day care centres surveyed used a designer and 32 used architects.
