Colonial Homes presents six traditional house styles from which readers can choose their favorite. Results of an earlier survey on the features that readers want most in their dream home are also presented. The leading choice for both male and female respondents was a two-story brick home.

Bradford house

Article Abstract:

The Captain Gershom Bradford House at 931 Tremont St. in Duxbury, MS, was occupied by four generations of the Bradfords. In 1968, the house was donated to the Duxbury Rural and Historical Society. It is now a New England sea captain's home which is open to the public.

Georgian by design

The brick Georgian-style home was the predominant building style during 1700 to 1780. The erection of this type of dwelling requires symmetry and balanced proportion. The plan for building Georgian-style homes is presented.
