Castle on the hill

Article Abstract:

Castle Hill was built in the early 1900s by the American plumbing magnate Richard Crane for his family. The Great House was designed by architect David Adler who specialized in builiding grand homes for the wealthy. The house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Hadley chests are a product of early American colonial craftsmanship and have earned the distinction of being one of many purely American furniture forms. These wide-board chests were usually made of oak and pine and were framed without using nails or glue.
